I am a detail person and like being fully informed and prepared.

It is important to me that I get to hear a client’s whole story including their background; what they do; what their business does; and what outcomes they want to achieve with their legal matters. I like the goal posts to be clearly in sight and take great pride in clear, plain and direct communications with clients about their situations.

I graduated with an arts and law (Honors) degree from Monash University in 1987. I worked in two national law firms based in Melbourne in commercial litigation and employment law before joining David when he started Hendersons Legal in Melbourne in 2001.

My main experience is in building and construction law for builders; commercial litigation for business and corporate clients from simple debt collections to more complex trade practices and consumer law questions; employment law for employers, CEOs and senior executives; testator’s family maintenance and acting family members wishing to challenge wills.

From 2009 to March 2015, I had a break from the law to take up the role of Chief Executive Officer of Supa Group Constructions, one of Victoria’s largest home extension companies in West Heidelberg. I was registered as a Domestic Builder-Manager from 2006 until 2016. I still have my Red Card. My role as CEO required management of the ambit of activities of a building company from sales and marketing to human resources, resolving client concerns, budgets, financial results, managing senior staff, chairing weekly reporting meetings and the everyday and unexpected issues that arise in business.

I loved the energy and creativity of running a business and looking at the client, commercial and financial considerations of the business in a completely different way to how a lawyer might view those issues. I believe I a have a profoundly deeper insight into our clients’ concerns and needs following from that experience.

On top of family commitments, I am an avid reader and love great science fiction. I listen to music a lot and have painted the odd canvas. I also recently spent a year in the Heidelberg Choral Society which was fantastic and included a performance of Mahler’s Symphony of 1000 at the Melbourne Town Hall.
