What should you do if you find defective building works during your new house build or renovation?

Finding defaults during the construction of a new home can be down heartening. We understand. All you want is the perfect new house and preferably with as little hassles as possible.

However, defections in the building process are common. If you know of issues with your build, these are the steps we recommend taking to have them rectified.

1. Identify the issues: Document the issues with your building works with photos/videos and if possible, an inspection report at each of the stages of your build.

2. Communication: Address concerns with the builder regarding the defective works and how they are to be rectified prior to the stage of your build being completed and/or hand over of your property.

3. Legal guidance: If your builder is not addressing your concerns or you want further advice, consult with a building lawyer for expert advice.

Please feel free to contact our residential building lawyers today to discuss your build and any issues you might be facing on 03 9629 2211.
